Meet Our Philanthropy Chair

Hey y’all!

I am Katie. I am the philanthropy chair for Chi Chapter this year! I work to organize opportunities to engage with our Lexington community, not to mention all the cool events throughout the year that raise money for our national and local philanthropies: Make-A-Wish and God’s Pantry.

Last year Chi Chapter hosted a Fall Field Day in the Campus Center that included food, games, and lots of fun with all proceeds going to the Make-a-Wish Foundation. This event unified not only the Transy  community, but the greater Lexington community as well as we sought to make a child's wish come true. We are so grateful for the opportunity to engage and connect with our city to grant wishes for children with terminal illnesses.

Our second philanthropy event is Campus Sing, a dance competition that doubles as a food drive benefiting our local nonprofit, God’s Pantry. In order to participate in a dance, all participants contribute a designated number of cans. Last year, we raised over 10,000 pounds of food that was eventually given out to the homeless in the Lexington community!

Make-a-Wish is such an incredible organization that does so many amazing things and it is truly such an honor to get to work so closely with them. Since 2002, Chi O has raised over $12.9 million and donated over 500,000 hours to Make-a-Wish. It is such a blessing to give our time, energy, and money to both God's Pantry and Make-A-Wish because we know that we truly are making a difference.

Chi O love and all of mine,

Katie
